Yesterday I lost a league match that I should have won. Our team lost the overall match as a result.
It was one of those matches where I always felt like I was winning — even when I was down two games to one. I won the fourth game easily, but the fifth game was tight, and my opponent ran away with the last 4 points to take the match.
These moments on court are so frustrating. I think about the mistakes I made in the match. I wonder why I play squash at all.
Then I remember that these ups and downs are part of the game. You must keep at it, trying to play your best game. If you lose, so be it. If you didn’t play your best game, so be it.
Either way, you come back for more next time.
