England’s Nick Matthew won the 2013 HK Open over Borja Golan of Spain, who was appearing in his first PSA World Series final. Ramy Ashour was back in action, but had to pull out in the quarterfinals due to injury. By virtue of his victory, Nick will regain the world #1 ranking.
Here are the equipment notes from the event. All photos are by Steve Cubbins for SquashSite.

The 2013 US Open squash tournament was held in Philadelphia, a.k.a. my neck of the woods. I was lucky enough to check out the quarterfinals in person.
You can watch the matches on PSA Squash TV. Here’s the recap of the men’s finals, which Greg Gaultier won 3-0 over Nick Matthew. Gaultier frankly demolished Matthew in the final, which I can hardly believe, because I saw Nick play in person in the quarterfinal and he looked so incredibly sharp. It goes to show how well Gaultier is playing.
The on-court emcee in that video is Philly’s own Gilly Lane.
Anyway I’ve combed through the event photos, taken by Steve Cubbins for the US Open, looking for the equipment each player was using. Here are all the men’s players. I’ll be following up with a post for the women shortly.
