Black Knight Hex Maverick

The Black Knight Hex Maverick is Daryl Selby’s signature frame. It seems to replace Black Knight’s Ion Element PSX Selby signature.

Having said that, you can at least get the newer blue version of the Hex from BK, so availability should be better. I’ve always preferred the traditional/closed throat frame but I bought a BK Pro X for my son and I really like how it plays.

Great racquet. Plays similarly enough to Selby’s previous racquet to minimize adjustment time yet provides added power, durability, and is lighter.

Hey Scott, what would you say are the differences between the old orange Selby racquet and the new Hex Maverick (either 2019 or 2023 model). Finally had to retire my old racquets after 5 strong years and looking to replace them with either the Maverick, the Dunlop Ultimate / Elite, or the Tecnifibre Slash

        Hello,

Not Rob 🙂 but I’ve played primarily with BK racquets for nearly 10 years and have used the Ion Element PSX Selby model for the last 3-4 years. IMHO, the newer Hex Mav Selby felt a little stiffer/more harsh and not as plush as the older Ion Element. Power was good and it’s a great looking frame but I broke mine in 3 months. The Ion Element has a more plush/dampened feel, slightly more flex (which I prefer) and has been an absolute tank in terms of durability. The ball comes of the strings with a thud vs a ping like you get in Harrow frames or a lot of modern racquets. I’ve bought a few on the big auction site for pennies on the dollar. I also have 1 of the black PSX version and it’s slightly lighter and certainly feels quicker on court. I’ll take it out later in long matches of if I’m playing drop in for for 1-2 hours. Cheers!
