Excellent shoe. Great grip and stability. Used by a setter during high-level volleyball. Asics did not disappoint with the quality of the shoe, and they may be my go-to from now on for court shoes in the future. Seller was excellent and handled my questions and transaction effectively and professionally. Would buy from again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shoe for volleyball and the price is right

I'm an adult amateur volleyball player who plays 2-4 days per week depending on whether or not there are any tournaments. I used to play in a pair of basketball shoes when I first got back into playing, but once they fell apart, I decided to grab a pair of Gel-Rockets. I had worn Asics in the past for running. They were comfortable back then, so I figured they would be comfortable now.

It's been a few years since I bought my first pair of Gel-Rockets, and I'm still buying and wearing them today. They are super comfortable, and they provide great grip on just about any playing surface. I'm not real tall (5'11"), but I jump fairly high so I often have some fairly hard landings. These shoes seem to provide me with plenty of cushion when landing. I usually wear them indoors for about a year and then buy another pair. I'm hard on my shoes (especially the insides near the big toe), so they might last a little longer for someone who plays a more casually. I usually end up ripping the insoles out before I wear through them too much, and then I will throw another insole/insert in there and use them for our outdoor hard surface league during the summer. The only surface I wouldn't recommend using them on is grass. They are really slippery on grass.

Basically, they are a good, comfortable volleyball shoe, and the price is right. You could buy a $100+ pair of Asics of Mizunos, but I don't think you would see enough of a performance increase to justify spending the extra money unless you are really a professional. I could be wrong, but most serious players will probably go through a shoe, regardless of its cost, with a year of steady playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Alternative for Racquetball Players With Wide Feet
Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2014

I am a tournament player with 2E width needs. In almost all cases a D width shoe is a disappointingly narrow fit, and accordingly so do the choices for decent racquetball shoes. For years I have worn NB basketball shoes on the racquetball court, which get the job done yet are heavier than optimal, feel slow for racquetball IMO. NB doesn't make a racquetball or volleyball shoe. Their tennis shoes can be had in 2E, but aren't made for wood floors.

I tried the HEAD Sonic shoes because they come in a mid cut but those gave me my first case of plantar fasciitis in my right foot, so I was forced to dump them, but the lighter weight was definitely a plus. So, what next?

Coincidentally I noticed that a lot of guys in the league I play in seemed to be suddenly wearing Asics shoes in the various models - Flashpoint, Sensei, Gel 7 etc. and the feedback was that all the models came somewhat large, and wider. I tried them all and for me the Gel 7 is the answer. The cushioning is outstanding, plantar fasciitis not a problem now, even after I play. My forefoot feels just comfortable enough in the 12D size i bought. I normally wear a 11.5 2E. in NB shoes. Overall the Gel7 is a solid, light weight shoe with excellent traction and for a wide foot, an OK fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars They are mostly comfortable. This is my fourth pair. The soles wear out quickly playing squash.

UPDATE:
I am on my fifth pair. As long as the price does not change and they continue to last six months I will probably just continue buying these good shoes.

UPDATE:
I am now on my fourth pair of these shoes. They fit well, give me good grip and support. They are not too expensive. And, now I know that they will last between 5 and 6 months before the soles wears out. I play or drill for about eight hours a week, squash.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
They are mostly comfortable. This is my second pair. They are narrow around the front, squishing my pinky toe. I will wear heavy socks to stretch them out a bit.

Update: they wear out rather quickly.
I have had these shoes for 3.5 months and they have worn out on the sole and the toes where the sole connects to the top of the foot. I use them only for squash. I put them on and take them off at the gym, so they've never seen cement. I calculated that they have gotten about 95 hours of use. I do not know what is the expected lifetime for squash shoes. But, these seems a little low. Otherwise, the tops and insides are in perfect condition. Maybe these are better off for sports other than squash.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great table tennis shoe for both my wife and me.
Reviewed in the United States on November 24, 2014

My wife and I play table tennis at a serious recreational level and wanted to finally get some table tennis shoes. We had looked at recommendations on various table tennis forums and many serious players said that they use volleyball shoes. The various Asics Gel-Rocket series were one of those recommended.

I normally wear 10D (medium) and these fit perfectly. My foot actually measures 10C, but those are impossible to find and I have worn D forever. My wife has a nerve problem in her foot and needs a wider shoe, so she wears women's 8-1/2 D (wide). Since men's medium is D and there is normally a 1-1/2 size difference between men's and women's shoes, she decided to order the 7D men's. They are also a perfect fit for her. We put PowerStep inserts in both shoes for extra support. I wear those in all my shoes and she wears orthotics in shoes that she will wear all day.

We have only used them for 1 time playing for about 2 hours, but they were comfortable and gave a good grip on the vinyl flooring that we play on a lot. I haven't used them on a wood gym floor yet, but I expect they will work fine.

5.0 out of 5 stars I have a wide foot and the shoes fit OK ...

I have a wide foot and the shoes fit OK. The right foot was a little tighter than the left. Walked around the house for 2 hours before some soreness developed. Played racquetball the following day and the shoes did not bother me at all. Able to move around the court without any slipping in the shoe. No soreness to the toes. Shoes grip the court well for my playing abilities. Will need to wait to see if the fabric portion of the shoes wear out as fast as my New Balance. The only problem I had with the shoes is that the soles were slipping on me when using the leg press weight machines.
