What is the consensus around wearing low cut basketball shoes? Comparable to “squash” shoes?

I was for many years wearing adidas stabil 11 shoes but tried wearing Nike pg3 shoes. I wore them for 4 months playing about 3 times per week. After break in period, it was actually pretty good especially the cushioning. However after 4 months, the I think I’ve reached the lifespan of the cushioning….they are feeling pretty dead now. One other thing is the amount of traction in the heel for very deep lunges, eg:

The pg3’s have very good traction but not for this type of movement. I think basketball shoes are just not designed for this. I’m back to playing with my stabils.

I’m using a pair of 361 Mazer hoops shoes right now. They (and I suspect most basketball shoes) took forever to break in. After a few months, they feel really good. They’ll never be as flexible as a squash shoe and there’ loads more stability than I need, but my feet don’t hurt afterwords.
I think there is some cross-compatibility between squash and basketball shoes, more so now that they make specific shoes for more agile players.

My buddy Jeremy was wearing some Steph Curry’s for our match this week. He started wearing them out of necessity because he forgot his squash shoes one day. He said they’re very comfortable, all-around good squash shoes. He’s only been using them for a couple weeks though so no word yet on longevity.

Forgot my shoes ones and had to play in my day to day chrome industries (bicycle urban commuter thingy). They were just as good as any other Asics I have played in. No joke.

Why don’t you consider “Nike Court Air Zoom Zero Hc” or “Nike Air Zoom Vapor” for squash?

I always thought tennis shoes world be too slippery on indoor court because they use a harder rubber. is that a bad assumption? will they squash??
