What’s #AskSquashSource? (1) You ask me a question. (2) I’ll do my best to answer it. (3) Readers are encouraged to leave their own answers in the comments!
This question comes from M____ (name redacted in case it’s a surprise gift!):
I would like you to recommend me a good racket.. It is for my boyfriend and he likes light weight. I just want to give him one with good quality, good brand and also if it is possible to print his initials on it.. and where can I order it 🙂
My take:
This is a difficult one because we don’t have too much information about his playing style and so on. Also “light” could mean the racket is light, or that it’s head-light. I’m going to assume we’re looking for a lightweight one.
I’d guess that the most popular lightweight racket on Squash Soure is the Tecnifibre Carboflex 125. There are tons of comments on the post, so you can get an idea of what others are saying. Tecnifibre is certainly a respected squash brand, and of course many pros play with that racket, as well as many regular players.
As for adding his initials — I don’t know of any squash store that offers that. If anyone’s heard of such a thing, please leave a comment.
Readers, what other rackets would you recommend? Please leave a comment below! Thanks

I’ve been a huge fan of Wilson products since I started playing baseball at a young age. So, naturally I went w/ Wilson when i first started playing squash and I still love my wilson rackets.
But i am most happy and comfortable w/ the prince pro beast 750
See Pierre’s post here: https://www.squashsource.com/prince-pro-beast-750/
I had it restrung w/ the ashaway 17 gauge power nick and i love the balance and feel of it
i wanted to give prince a shot because i’m a huge peter nicol fan and love his style of play. I’d seen he’d used prince rackets and even had his own designed for his site squashskills.com
i didn’t have a lightweight racket in my bag and I wanted to try one out and based on some comments here and other site reviews i chose it and i really like the feel of it. i might even eventually get the airstick 130 or even try out that technifibre pierre mentions above.
as far as engraving goes, the only thing that comes to mind is to go to a jeweler and see if they can do it? if you’re bold and adventurous you could buy your own electric engraver. or do what i do and buy these sharpie oil based pens…http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Oil-Based-Medium-Assorted-1770458/dp/B003YDYO1Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1428070733&sr=8-2&keywords=sharpie+paint+markers
i am a nut about putting my initials or last name on all my stuff…guess cause i don’t like to get my belongings stolen (it’s happened)
also, here’s a great post on gift ideas @ chris hanebury’s wonderful blog SERIOUS SQUASH: http://www.amazon.com/Sharpie-Oil-Based-Medium-Assorted-1770458/dp/B003YDYO1Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1428070733&sr=8-2&keywords=sharpie+paint+markers
i most like the idea of a membership to squash tv, if your boyfriend is like most of us squash addicts then he’ll want to be able to watch a live match on his phone, ipad, or computer 🙂
hope this helps and best of luck shopping!
