The 2012 Australian Open concluded today with Ramy Ashour and Nicol David each successfully defending their titles.
Ramy beat fellow Egyptian Omar Mosaad 3-0 in the finals and Aussie Cameron Pilley in four games in the semis. Omar overcame an injured Tom Richards in the other semifinal.
Meanwhile, Nicol David overcame Laura Massaro in a four-game final after beating Madeline Perry in the semi-finals. Massaro beat surprise semifinalist Dipika Pallikal en route to her finals berth.
The draw was disrupted by American Amanda Sobhy, who beat world #2 Jenny Duncalf before falling to Pallikal in the quarterfinals.
