It’s the Asics Gel Flashpoint.
Update: the Asics Gel Flashpoint 2 came out later
Men
Alright, I saw yet another kid wearing these today and I must post about them. When I look at the picture, the design seems over the top. When you see them in person, they definitely stand out, but it’s not excessive. They just look a bit funky.
KIDS THESE DAYS!!!!!
Sorry, don’t know where that came from.

These are probably the best shoes i’ve ever worn (in over 30 years!!)
Very lightweight, great cushioning with front and backk gel and look great too. They come up about 1/2 size big so worth buying 1/2 size smaller than normal if you can get hold of any. Shame they don’t sell these in the UK

Thanks for the feedback Chris!

any idea where the Gel Flashpoint is available to buy in the UK?
I’ve searched but no luck. Asics won’t ship to the UK from the US, nor will any of the US online stores

Hi Chris I had a look around and found the black style at amazon.co.uk. Here’s my affiliate link if you’d like to check them out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AJNBIUE?tag=squasour-21. I wasn’t able to locate the blue/lime color anywhere in the UK.

Asics America seems to be noticing that US players are looking elsewhere for the shoes. Gel Blast 5 is supposed to be available on June 1, 2013. I saw earlier pictures of it and superficially they look like Gel Blast 4s (maybe it’s just a re-branded Gel Blast 4 for US market) except with only two trim colors (Model: E329N.4290 – blue, white and a black stripe w/ hint of orange trim and Model: E329N.1693 – yellow, black and a silver stripe)
Description
A top performing indoor court shoe primarily used for squash,
handball and other indoor court sports, the GEL-Blast™ 5 uses a
Flexion Fit® upper construction and Personalized Heel Fit (P.H.F.™)
for enhanced upper fit and feel, while providing superior durability
with RhynoSkin ® on the medial side to protect against foot drag.
For easier movement and quicker cuts around the court, the
GEL-Blast™ 5 comes equipped with ASICS’ proprietary Impact
Guidance System (I.G.S®) and propulsion plate that enhances the
foot’s natural propulsion.
Here is a website that is advertising without pictures and a $140 price point.

Thanks Pierre. Looking forward to your post. My Asics Gel Blast from 3 years ago need replacement 🙁

Hope you find a good replacement pair Seb!

They look cool. One thing that I wonder – why doesn’t Asics sell Asics Gel Blast series shoes in the US? I know they sell in Canada and Pierre has mentioned a couple of models and links to http://controlthet.com.
Squash may not be very popular in the US yet, but we are getting there, plus we have many other indoor court sports; racket ball, volley ball, etc.

Hi Seb that’s a good question, I haven’t really been able to figure it out. I think it just takes a while for certain styles to make their way to the US. Actually I’ve just noticed that the Asics Gel Blast have become available in the US since my post, so I will be updating that page.
