Hi, has anyone played squash in these? They have more thickness in the heal than I am used to. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have. At first I didn’t mind them.. Then after not too long, something just felt a little weird to me, I wasn’t able to cover the court in my normal way. Could be the thicker heel you speak of… Not sure what the deal is. I listed them for sale, the link is below this comment – but no interest, so maybe I will try them again for another play test.
They were great comfort wise though! Support was also fine, I didn’t slip at all.
Maybe the key will be to put in a different aftermarket insole, or maybe they’re just not as optimal for squash as they are for volleyball.

Thanks, I think it’s partly the nature of Asics, and partly just this model. I think for squash (and more so for badminton) you want more of a rock climbing shoe that provides a low foot and grip. Rather than basketball boots. Even though Asics are my favourite shoes I think that for squash cheaper shoes that are basically a laced sock with grip are better, even if they don’t last like Asics.

Yeah, I think this model with the higher up feeling is really for maybe a back row volleyball person who might be going more back and fourth, and not so much diagonal or side to side like a squash player.
I used to wear Asics too, I am a big fan, I wore the old Gel Tactic 2’s, and really liked those, and then when they revamped the current Gel Tactic and released it in 2021, I hated them a lot. Very heavy, very clunky… supportive sure… but not great to move in for me. I then tried the Gel Blade 8’s after that, and I like those, they are low to the ground, but not as much support, I ended up hurting my back playing in them one night, was it due to the lack of support? I am not sure….
Now currently I am wearing the Adidas Crazyflight’s, Paul Coll style… I like them very much. I have 2 pairs I alternate between, and have had them both since beginning of this year, very happy! Durability is great, support is great, I feel light and nimble in them too.

Hey man. Hope you’re well!
Just wanted to let you know they have this colour too in Asia – for many flagship models, they have released a special edition for the Tokyo Olympics (that didn’t happen this year of course). https://www.asics.com/sg/en-sg/netburner-ballistic-ff-2-le/p/15573697
