Dunlop Sonic Core Revelation Pro Lite

The Dunlop Sonic Core Revelation Pro Lite first launched in 2021, and an updated “Dunlop Sonic Core Revelation Pro Lite Ltd” model was released in 2023. These rackets replaced the Dunlop Hyperfibre XT Revelation Pro Lite in the Dunlop squash rackets lineup.

Update: These rackets were replaced in 2024 by the Dunlop FX 125 Pro Lite

This is the “Limited Edition” model released in 2023. Seems to just be a cosmetic update from the prior model.

I bought two of these about 8 months ago. I immediately replaced the strings with TF 305 18g. Eight months later, both have hairline splits in the exact same top part of the frame – if you hold them side by side, its virtually identically where its happening.

I really like the feel of this racquet, but I am not sure if they are durable? In comparison, the older Ali Farag Hyperfibre+ from around 2017 feels MUCH sturdier in comparison.

Just picked up the latest model of this at the ToC in New York 2023. The factory strings are apparently an upgrade from the Dunlop Silk they used to put in the pre-pandemic models, but they are still not great. Hard to believe that Ali Farag uses them (in fact, I don’t believe it!). I gave them one hitting session and the empty and completely powerless “ping” feel and sound made it clear that these strings need to be replaced with some Ashaway right away. Still, I’ve loved the frame itself (though haven’t yet tried the newest model with premium strings). Dunlop would do well to just subcontract the stringing of their frames to Ashaway.

Just got my Sonic Core. I have the XT as well. Only had one hitting session, and strings aren’t the same etc, but impressions so far:

Sonic Core feels slightly heavier and slightly stiffer. I think the balance is about the same. The extra weight makes it feel slightly less maneuverable but feels more solid on contact with the ball. Extra weight maybe makes it slightly more powerful but that could also be the new strings. Notice lots of ‘slightlys’ in this comment.

So far I like it 🙂
