The Karakal SN-90 FF, advertised at 90 grams, lays claims to being the lightest squash racket in the world. (It replaces the Karakal SN-90.)

Karakal SN-90 FF 2.0

In 2022, Karakal came out with an updated model they’ve named the “Karakal SN-90 FF 2.0“:

Karakal SN-90 FF

Previously this racket was just called the Karakal SN-90 FF. I’m not sure if much changed between the original and “2.0” versions other than the cosmetics.

The original frame went through a few cosmetics changes in its own right. Here’s the 2021 version:

Notes

The SN-90 FF was the successor to the Karakal SN 90, which was an equally slight 90 grams. Good to see it hasn’t put on any pounds.

The FF stands for Fast Fibre — or maybe Flying Footstools.

If you prefer something with a little more heft, have a look at the Karakal S-100 FF and Karakal S-110 FF, which are heavier and have the same frame shape.

Here’s a video look at the three rackets from Adrian Fulneczek. He’s also put together a review in Polish.

Hi. I play in a club on a very cold court. In winter we play with blue dot. So far I have played with Tecnifibre 130s.I love everything of this racquet but it is very heavy. Someone who has used the karakal 90ff, how about its power and duration? I would be very grateful for your comments. Thank you very much and sorry for my English

Not an answer really, but the 2019 SN 90 FF has a strung weight of about 133g, so it puts on quite a bit of weight over the advertised unstrung weight.

I’m a low level player so still learning technique etc., and found the power on this one to not really be that different to quite a few other Karakal rackets I’ve tried.

Thanks for your answer. I really expected the total weight to be less. I am currently playing with the harrow spark, it came to me unexpectedly in a used object store. It is the best racket I’ve had, the weight on the scale is 136gr with karakal grip. It is not very different from karakal in weight, it is a racket of control, although it does not lack power. Against being fragile, you have to be careful about the balls on the wall. You have to get used to it, since the sweet spot is small and if you don’t hit there the ball is not going well. It requires a minimum level of technique. I do not rule out trying the karakal if I get a good price.

Having tested the whole Karakal range and spoken with Karakal about the manufacturer, as Kris said above the frames are actually much heavier when strung. The SN-90 is just the S100 without any paint. It’s very manoeuvrable and power is okay, but better strung at a lower tension. Durability is reasonable but as usual depends on the player …
