Prince Extender

Remember the Prince Extender? This was the bomb racket in the late 90s. I think I might’ve used the BIGBOY but I’m sure there was another model I used to roll with that I’m forgetting the name of that had a red color scheme (update: Jon reminds me it was called the Featherlite).

Anybody remember other Extender OS models besides what I’ve posted here? If so, please give them a shout-out in the comments.

And if you happen to have one of these stuffed in a closet somewhere, take a picture and send it in — I’ll post it here.

Here are some photos.

  12. Hi
So I’v recently returned to playing squash after about 15 years. When i used to play i used a Prince Extender Oversize. I think it was the same as the one shown in the picture (https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTc2WDEwMjQ=/z/YBgAAOSwXYtYtuuz/$_86.JPG)

I guess my question is if there are any rackets nowadays which are similar to that model as i was a big fan of the Oversize! I’m on the lookout for a new racket now that i’m playing again so any suggestions would be great.
    Cheers
    HoZe

  17. Ha ha ha – just took mine out of the container to start playing again – Prince extender focus – 15 years since I used it last – hope I don’t burst the strings first time out

  18. I have the extender os aerolite and still use ir

  19. Hi Pierre,

First of all, I just love your blog…keep up the great work!

Incidentally, I am the proud owner , and CURRENT user of the Prince Extender OS Thunder. I purchased it circa 1997-1998….can’t really remember to be honest….patent still pending at the time of purchase!

In any case, it has served me well over the years. Used it againts pros. back in the day ,and now its taking down “grandpas” at the club! :

Heck, the kids at the club think its a fancy , new Prince model : )

    Cheers…FC

  20. I have a cool Prince Extender Viper but I can’t figure out how to post a picture of it here

    1. Here’s David’s picture. Super old-school! “The Extender Viper” is printed on the handle.

  21. I have two Extender OS Fusion. Are they any good? Wondering if I should regrip them or buy a new racquet. They’re pretty old I think.

    1. Might be a little heavier that more modern rackets but that shouldn’t stop you from giving them a try!

  22. Mate, this is new school compared to my Prince Extender.
Will try to post a photo later!

  23. Hi Guys… newguy here.

I have a Prince Extender OS featherlite in a maroon color, not red; and yes I did find it in my closet. My squash days are over due to nerve problems in my feet.

It was a great piece of equipment. I pulled it out because I’m going to post it on Ebay. There’s not a scratch on it (it still has that holographic sticker in place) so I’ll see if I can get a few bucks for it. I will send you a pic as well.

    Nice to meet y’all.

  24. I still use an OS Extender Finalist in competition. 23+ years and still going strong. Great racquets!…keen to get a second one if anyone has one lying around.

  25. As a bit of a novice, I’ve started playing with my dad’s olds racket, an extended os destroyer. My question is, will playing with an older model like this be hampering my game? Might I see an improvement if I use a more modern racket?

    1. No, if anything using an older (usually heavier) racquet will help your progression. The added weight helps guide the racquet through the swing, plus I always found a heavier racquet helps you remember proper pre-swing preperation. Not to mention older racquets seem to be alot less fragile.

  26. I have an Extender OS Lite which I’ve had since I was 15/16 (I’m now 33). Will post a picture when I get a chance.

  27. I’m a beginner but I just bought a prince extender outrage for £3 from a charity shop. Played tonight and I beat my partner fir the first time in a few months. I’d say it’s the best I’ve ever played. Is this racquet old?

    1. Yes I would put that under “old school”! Never heard of that one before.

  28. Hi,
Strange one. I’m trying to buy a Prince Extender OS Lite. Do you know of anyone who has one, that they’d like to sell me?

Some of the best squash I played was with that racket, and it’s about time I started playing well again!

    Cheers

    Gareth

    1. I just picked up a prince extender II which is still in the original wrapper -never been played! It retailed for 197.98 back in 1988. If you are interested I will let it go for $20 plus shipping.

  29. I noticed your site while looking for the string pattern for an Extender OS Cronos. It too is dark red. I just played with it today. It was my playing partners first racquet.

    1. Nice one Gunther. I don’t even remember the Cronos. If you can get a picture, email it in and I’ll post it! Best

  30. Frenchie – you are thinking of the Featherlite. That was the lightest model they made at the time and had the red color scheme. I broke all of mine and then switched over Prince’s new Power Ring line by senior year.

    1. Good call Jon
