The Salming Kobra 2 is a non-marking indoor court shoe from Salming. This is the successor to the popular Salming Kobra shoes that Salming first launched in 2016. It looks like they haven’t changed the design all that much from the prior version.
The Salming Kobra 2 first launched in 2018, and some new models were released in 2019 as well.
Update: these have been replaced by the Salming Kobra 3

can anyone who has both the kobra 1 and kobra 2 comment on these? I’ve had the kobra 1 for around half a year and it has been amazing for me. Durability wise it has been great, no tears in the fabric lace holders like people say the kobra 2 has issues with. even the part on the interior of the shoe that is usually dragged when i lunge is holding up very well. I really want to get the new color (blue and white) because it looks sick, but if the quality went down from the 1 to 2 then I probably won’t get it…

Hi Guys,
Has anyone found that the fabric that holds the laces in place snaps! Happened to me! Seems like a bad idea to have fabric as the lace loophole
Pierre says
()
That happened to me on the original Salming Kobra. I agree it’s a design flaw, especially on a shoe you need to cinch up tightly (or I needed to anyway)

Yup! The front right lace hoop one on my right shoe totally broke off and came undone. I am currently in the process of a return due to that since it happened barely over a month of owning the shoes.
Loved the shoes, pretty comfortable and stability was great, but for the price …eh, I think they’re (Salming in general) overrated a bit. There’s plenty of other great supportive shoes from other brands for a third to half the cost less.
I now have some Fastball 3’s coming in from the Netherlands 🙂 Can’t wait for those puppies!

As I mentioned above the Kobra 2’s lace loop broke on both shoes within a week so I got rid of them for the eye s-line and Adidas stabil X which are both far superior, I found the salming really hurt my heel like it was bruised after playing in them

I ve bought the kobra 2 and I dont like it. Nothing remarkable, except it slips like soap. Not a good deal for 110 euros….

really? I got the old kobra 1s (orange) which seem similar enough and they are life changing. They have just enough slipperiness to extend my reach a bit more when retrieving drops, but not enough to screw up me anywhere else. They feel so nice on foot like ultraboosts.

Maybe the first version was better. In my opinion, kobra 2 seems to be cheapest to kobra 1.(no flags on the 2,it means a lot……) . But if you are 80 kgs and explosive, that is not the squash shoes for you….. The Hexa Grip needs really to be improve.

Hey Pierre, when can we expect your review on the Kobra 2’s?
thejudge says
()
I bought the new kobra 2 and both shoes have broken in 2 weeks/ 5 games max! worst things I’ve ever bought and £115 cheapest in the uk currently. both the inside lace loop/material has come out which is p!ss poor for such an expensive shoe, this is my first pair of salmings and the last.. back to adidas stabil’s
Pierre says
()
That’s terrible! Thanks for leaving a comment

I am really intrigued to try the Kobra 2s .. but after seeing some mixed reviews about some falling apart pretty easily .. I might go for some Stabil X‘s or hunt the web for some older Adipower Stabil 10.1/11’s hmmm

If they’re anything like the Kobra 1s, then they will last quite a while… I have my Kobra 1s and they’re holding up really well, super comfortable and really great. Honestly they feel like sneakers (think Nike Pegasus 35) but with good stability and traction. And they also look great. Frankly I think I’m going to stick with the Kobra line for a long time, unless the Kobra 2 QC is really as bad as people say it is.

i bought the stabil X’s and found the UK8 to small and they don’t do half sizes so sent them back and got the EYE s-line which after 2 months of regular 3-4 times a week matches (county level) they are holding up well and my feet aren’t in pain like they were with the salmings, i felt my heel was bruised and painful with the salmings. I got a new pair of kobra 2 from salming after complaining of the quality and sold them !

Seems these also come in the same white/grey/black color scheme as the Kobra 1.

Thanks Håvard, I added that one

I think that black and white is the Kobra 1, because you can see the front of the shoe is different with the Kobra 2. Because the first model has a bit too hard material at the front of the shoe, which they changed at the second model.

After looking closer I’m inclined to agree. How very peculiar, that image is taken straight from Salmings official site.
Håvard says

Proving very hard to dig up pictures, but here’s one of the white version of the Kobra 2.
You can see the difference in the material on the front, comparing to the previous one.
Guess Salming just.. forgot to update the pictures? Camera man on vacation?

It seems on a LOT of sites selling “Kobra 2” ‘s are stocked with photos of the Kobra 1’s … Biggest giveaway is the little green stitched ..flag? on the outer parts of both shoes near the end of the toe box next to pinky toe.
Holabirdsports is the only site that advertises Kobra 2, and has pics of real Kobra 2’s, and unfortunately they are out of my size.
Does anyone really know the main difference between the 1 and 2’s? Just from the few pics of the 2’s it looks like the toe guard area has been upgraded to a more firmer rubber/plastic like material instead of mesh/thread on the 1’s.
Yet I’ve heard handful of bad reviews of the 2’s and many praises of the 1’s .. haha who knows. Guess just gotta experiment myself, like they say .. “if the shoe fits”
Raymond Kujawa says
()
The difference I first noticed was a thicker insole. I had had some heel pain with the 1’s which went away after awhile. The 2’s insole makes the shoe feel less stiff.
