Here’s the “mid” model with extra ankle support. My friend Bill likes these – he needs good ankle support, and these are similar to the Kobra 3 Mid that he used to wear. He ordered a pair of these from Europe to test them out but I think will be happy to see them now available in the US.

Salming just released a new indoor court shoe called the Salming Recoil Ultra in 2023.

The Recoil Ultra has a tremendous amount of cushioning. You can see here in comparison to a pair of kind of standard Asics Gel Rocket the Recoil Ultra probably has about another centimeter more of cushioning than the Rockets.

These shoes have great grip on the squash courts. I tested them out in a training session. They have a very nicely cushioned and removable insole. They’re very comfortable around the ankle. Very soft materials. Very nice protection from toe drag. And a very secure lacing system — quite easy to adjust.

These shoes were true to my normal size. I wear an 11.5 (US). These fit perfectly. Although these shoes are a little heavier, around 400 grams, because of all that added padding, they still felt quite maneuverable on court. They feel a little bit higher at the heel than at the toe so it feels like you’re pointing forward. And they also have a little bit more, uh they also feel a little bit higher on the outside, which makes you feel like it’s easy to push off side to side.

There are a few color schemes. This is my personal favorite: the all black version. There’s a women’s version that is all white. There’s a little bit of a wilder one called Spicy Orange and Black and White. You can see how the outside of the shoe is orange with the black around the heel and the lacing and then on the inside there’s kind of a black section here in the upper material.

There’s also a mid top version, which has the same, uh sole and sort of middle part of the upper but comes with an integrated sort of sock bootie to hold your foot in place and give you a little bit of higher ankle support. This is stitched into the bottom of the shoe so it’s very secure and holds your foot snugly.

The materials on the Salming Recoil Ultra feel very high quality, great design all around. They cost $180 so they are Salming’s top of the line model.
