TOC 2013

Here’s the equipment roundup for the 2013 TOC. This is for the men’s draw (see here for the women’s.)

The most notable change was tournament champion Ramy Ashour coming out using the Prince Airstick 130. It appears he’s gone away from Dunlop and back to an old favorite.

Isn’t James willstrop using the exo3 pro tour? The exo3 tour is the one with the really weird head shape no?

Hi Marlin, you’re right, Willstrop’s racket is actually called the Pro Tour. I have updated the post!

Hmmm could Shahier be using a Motion Sport racquet? All black.. North American based, same head-heavy as the Head Xenon he used to play with? Some of these fringe companies seem kind of interesting.. Eye Rackets, Motion Sport.. they’re just not distributed enough to know how they play.

Hi D that is a NICE spot, I hadn’t even heard of Motion Sport before. It does look like their “Invictus Warrio II” frame. The stencil on his racket is weird though, looks like the Head stencil with some extra brush strokes. Funny.

New pics of Shahier at the Cambridge Cup are out, and he’s playing with… Oliver?!
That would explain the weird stencil on his racket. My wild guess is that his Head racket is painted black, and the Head logo was slightly modified to look like an Oliver logo, which is why it neither resembles a Head stencil nor an Oliver stencil. Weird.

no Grégory Gaultier 🙁 The sad part is that some of the equipment used is not available in the US. I have been trying to get the Karakal Karakal Tec Gel 120 that Cameron Pilley uses, but it is not sold in the US.

BTW, does any one know or has a close up picture of what the tattoo is/says on Gaultier’s right bicep? It appears to be something in Arabic but not sure. It will be interesting to know what it says.

Oh dear, how could I leave out Gaultier!? I forgot Nick too. I have added them in now.

As for the tattoo I remember hearing him say in an interview (I don’t remember where) that it’s just a cool design. I believe one of the other players drew the design for him and he went out and got it tattooed.

Update: I found the interview. It’s a bit different that what I said.

Shawn DeLierre plays with the Black Knight Omega racquet these days. He’s also been partial to Prince shoes, so I think those are a different colourway of one of the Prince shoes.. looks like an Ektelon version.
