My review of the Wilson Blade Countervail:
Notes
Similar frame shape to the Wilson Blade Ultra Light.

Nicol David’s been trying this out. Thanks to Casper and Niklas for the tips.

And now she has her own signature version! Thanks to Ivan for the tip.

Quick review for this racket based on 2 hits I’ve had with it this past week. The good: pretty much everything. I enjoyed the balance of the racket straight out of the box and to me it felt like an even balance. To play with this is a really solid feeling racket. The ball comes off the strings with a lot of power and I had a really nice level of control on all my shots. Factory strings felt pretty nice too which is always a bonus. Now the only negative aspect to this racket is the chunkiness of the frame. Especially when compared to thin beam rackets like my BK Ion Element and the Tecnifibre Carboflex X-Speed. I don’t care about the thickness of the shaft but the top beam is just really chunky. I play at a fairly high level and I just feel like this racket is going to cost me multiple points a match solely on not being able to pick those tight balls off the wall. As for the Countervail tech, I was play testing multiple rackets at the same time so I couldn’t tell if it makes a difference. Bottom line, this is a really good racket and if you play at a level where opponents aren’t playing consistent straight drives then this racket is a really good option given that it is a bit cheaper than the top end racket from many other brands.

Anybody out there using this stick? I’m considering getting one as I like the frame shape and the racket specs but I don’t know anyone using it and have no stockists in the area, meaning I’d have to order one without ever picking it up.

It looks like the Asics Gel Blade 5 but a color scheme I haven’t seen before. Nicol has had custom Asics in the past so these could be custom colors… or just one I haven’t seen before 🙂

p.s.: Not the blade light, which I mistakenly tipped minutes ago…

How on earth is this her first signature racket when she was such a force on the tour??
