Asics Gel Fastball 2

Asics starting bringing out the Asics Gel Fastball 2 in June 2016.

Update: This shoe was replaced by the Asics Gel Fastball 3.

Versions: Men | Women

The original Asics Gel Fastball was a surprise hit amongst squash players. It was used by the Shorbagy brothers, among others.

Many players who previously used the Asics Gel Blast 5 ended up switching to the original Fastball rather than jump to the Asics Gel Blast 6, which was a big departure from the 5.

We’ll see whether the Fastball 2 remains a hit.

Just bought a pair of these for 1 55 including delivery. Nice upgrade from the rocket 7s but a bulky so I would say less speed more comfort

Bulky? seriously? I have the fastball 1 and it’s definitely not bulky.

I’ve been using this shoe for the last month and I like it. Definitely not bulky for a squash shoe. It is quite wide at the ball of the foot which I guess might make it look bulky but in reality this is a pretty light squash shoe.

It’s an opinion, to me so far they have felt more bulky than my previous shoes.

I have had both pairs (Fastball 1 & 2) and by no means is the 2 a bulky shoe. However, the 1 is definitely a more minimal shoe than the 2. There is noticeably less padding in the forefoot in the 1, and it fits tighter. I have to pull the laces tighter on the 2 so that my foot doesn’t move within the shoe on hard lunges. I don’t know if there is a weight difference between the two models. If there is, I am not really noticing it. Both pairs are substantially less bulky than the Blast series of which I’ve worn the 4/5/7.

If you’re in Canada, it’s getting harder to find this shoe in the popular sizes (9/10). I got mine from ATR Sports for a good price. https://atrsports.com/product/asics-gel-fastball-2-mens-shoe-vermilion/.

        Hope this information is helpful.

Just saw these in a store in Helsinki. They feel like the stripped down version of its predecessor and it reflects in its launch pricing. (Approx €15-20 cheaper than what the fastball 1 launched at). I felt the Rhyno skin( in the Fb-1) actually served well and gave the front part of the shoe a great hold. The new version is lighter but I am not convinced on the support to the toes with the material they have used. I am surely buying another pair of the price down Fastball 1 (still €20-30 cheaper and in my view, a way superior shoe)

At the Hong Kong Open, Mohamed Elshorbagy using the original Fastball and Marwan Elshorbagy using the new Fastball-2.

Nice colour design, they do look a little bulkier than the original though, let’s see what they’re like
