The Mizuno Wave Stealth V is a handball shoe from Mizuno. It’s a non-marking indoor court shoe known for its INSANE GRIP but poor durability.

I’ve actually noticed that the shoe’s main material is actually a knit (the triangular pattern is made of a knit) similar to knits like adidas Primeknit or Nike flyknit. It’s much stiffer than those 2, and seems to be more durable. It’s reinforced by a vulcanized rubber sort of material in areas that need it (where shoe can slide on ground, laceholes). That’s the outermost layer, and underneath the knit is some sort of meshy material for more durability I assume. The heelcup is made up of a stiffer plastic.

Got these today and tried them out on court. I have got to say that these are the best looking squash shoes that I’ve ever seen. Imo nothing else out there even comes close. The colors are clean and simple. The shoe is light, and the cushioning is decent.
It also has amazing grip. Maybe not “insane” grip, but compared to my other shoes, it’s much better. The shoe seems to stand a little bit taller than other shoes like the Kobra 1, and it also seems to be a little bit more prone to rolling. Asics and Salming shoes are very low to the ground, so it’s basically impossible to roll your ankle. With these, it’s possible but difficult. This being said, when I was playing, I couldn’t feel any difference in terms of stability, but when I was just testing around with them, I could definitely roll it easier.
These are expensive shoes, but they seem to be worth it, although I’ll have to see how long they last. My Kobras lasted around 8 months until the grip basically disappeared. In my other shoes, I quickly wore holes in the medial side of my right shoe, near the toe / foot joint. This might be a problem with these, considering how thin the material is. Overall, I like these and will probably use them for a while.
