Mohamed El Shorbagy won the 2013 Qatar Classic — his first major PSA tournament victory — beating Nick Matthew in a tense 5 gamer.
Here are my equipment notes from the event. I’ve also included all the PSA Squash TV video roundups at the bottom.
Equipment Notes
All photos are by Steve Cubbins for SquashSite. Follow Steve on Google+.
Here are a few players that changed equipment since the World Championships.
- Nick Matthew is wearing the newest Hi-Tec Infinity Flares. He’s been promoting these for a while, but rarely worn them in competition. Prior to this he was wearing the Hi-Tec S701s.
- Omar Mosaad switched from the Asics Gel Blast 4 to the Asics Gel Blast 5.
- Tarek Momen switched from the Asics Gel Blade 3 to the Adidas Court Stabil 10.1 in a sweet new black color.

I am the author of the post on blog.controlthet.com that Bopper referenced and I was pretty surprised to find that the shoes Nick wore were just made to look like the new Infinity Flare’s. I had watched the tournament on PSAsquashtv.com and saw Nick reference wearing the Infinity Flare on Twitter and took that at face value. When you take a good look at them on Cubbins site though they definitely are not the Flare!

Hi Pierre,
Nick Matthew is still wearing his S701’s, but has had them coloured to look like the Infinity Flares. Close ups available from Steve Cubbins site show it pretty well.
Check out the post at the other squash source:

This is even more blatant than Gregory Gaultier’s Dunlop racket!
Regards, Bopper.
