RAB Sensor Fibre

RAB Sensor Fibre string. Thanks to Keir for the tip! He writes in to say:

It’s a 1.27mm multifilament which gives high comfort and power similar to Tecnifibre 305, but without the fragility of the Tecnifibre string in cold weather. As used by: Sarah Jane Perry, Laura Massaro and many others! It’s very popular here in the UK.

Single

It comes in a few different colors:

    Hi guys

Anyone else had problems with this string wearing really quickly? It hasn’t broken, but it’s as if the green “outer” has diminished and the internal white core revealed. I have fluffy threads across the sweet spot. This has happened within the first month of play.

Anyone else? Are the strings still OK to use?

    Cheers

That’s normal with these kinds of strings. Tecnifibre 305 will do the same. They are still fine to play with.

so is this string actually better than tecnifibre 305? I find that hard to believe

It is a very good string and popular, however, pretty sure both SJ and LM aren’t using it anymore, they did for a long time, but SJ is using the Unsquashable Tour Tec Pro1.18 and LM is using Head Multinick Pro. Well they were, more recently anyway.

Nick, good to see you on here imparting your vast knowledge!

Do you know if the unsquashable players are contracted to use only that string, as I believe they all use it? It’s a shame it’s only available in reels (even though the reels are remarkably cheap at present!). Could you suggest what it’s similar to as an idea?

Did you mean the Head UltraNick Pro for LM? Been curious about that string as looks to have a very similar construction to the Ashaway 17g string – do you know if it plays similarly?

Nick the reel is presently very inexpensive any idea how to get it in the USA? I contacted Unsquashable and they do not ship to the US yet. Is anyone importing the Tour tec Pro 1.18 reels if so I would buy a few.

Pierre, I would hazard a guess that Unsquashable’s Tour string is made by RAB. RAB have just launched a new multi called Razor-Fibre (1.18mm) as a response to players seeking a thinnner string to the Sensor Fibre. It looks exactly the same in appearance to the Unsquashable string, apart from the name printed on it.

Looks identical to Mantis tour response 17L g.. the descriptions are very parallel to each other, the reels have the same indents/shape, and the font on the string is quite distinct and looks to be the same
