Previously Salming had the Race R1 and Race R2 shoe lines, both of which had pretty similar construction. I wonder if Salming is consolidating them into a single strain, the Race X. Personally I think that is a good call — much simpler.

These are advertised as Ramys shoes on the Salming website, which would make sense as he started with the Race line when he first went to Salming. Also saw Diego Elias playing with these recently!

Can’t wait for this one to be out! Race R1 user, it was impossible to find new pairs and Kobra didn’t feel right for me.

Transitioning to Salming shoes after many years with Asics.

Still not convinced Salming shoes are all that robust, especially for larger players. I replaced my vipers with some Asics after 5 months as the upper was separating from the sole, and were right from about the 3rd week I had them.

I agree, my first pair of R2v3 started separating within a few weeks, the second pair after about 6. Still gonna look at these Race X’s though, as they are more comfortable than the current Asics range, I find the Fireblast 2 almost useless on court because of lack of cushioning.

£115 in the UK for the Race X, crazy price! I have just started using the Salming R9 mid and these have been great so far, feel the same as the R2’s,
cheers,
Paul
