I’ve used this racquet as a backup to my gamer, the Dunlop Biomimetic Elite 2012. The Xamsa is a decent racquet, and I got it because it’s basically the same shape and string pattern as my older Elite. My only reservation is that it’s a bit too head light, as I prefer a bit of head weight to help get the ball deep. Other than that, the Xamsa is surprisingly stable, and the head light attribute is a joy to volley with. I also got the Xamsa strings, which are textured, and although they give good bite, I prefer Technifibre strings, which are smooth. Just my preference and what I’m used to. I note that the Xamsa strings will put cuts into the squash ball, so I find the ball durability drops as well.

Is yours the exposed version or the one with bumpers?

With the bumper. It’s light enough with it on, and I prefer the protection.

Pierre – after you demo’ed, stiff enough for doubles?

It might work. It’s a little longer head than the typical Harrow model (more like the Vibe than the M-140) and one less cross string. I’m a little concerned whether it’s firm enough. I might be playing tomorrow and if so I’ll test it out.

Thank you for putting together these Xamsa racquet videos. I am currently debating between Onyx and Obsidian. Pierre, can you please shed some light on the following questions? 1) Between Onyx and Obsidian, which one would you recommend to an intermediate level player? 2) Which one of these two racquets do you prefer and why? Thank you in advance!

They’re both good options. I have a slight preference for the Obsidian because I like a deader feel to my racket and the Onyx is very lively. I don’t know your style game but in general I’d recommend the Onyx to intermediate players, because it’s a little more fun and forgiving.

This is one sexy racket! Worth mentioning that both this and the Onyx has a removable bumper guard.
