Reviews

Here’s my review of the Dunlop Sonic Core Ultimate. In short, I played well with it and enjoyed the larger head size compared to the Pro 130. The Ultimate gave me a bit more power and forgiveness, without any noticeable loss of precision.

Dunlop Sonic Core Ultimate 132 Review Transcript

I have a review today of the dunlop sonicore ultimate 132. this is a 2020 racket it’s a continuation of dunlop’s ultimate lines or upgraded sonic core range model that came out this year i’ve been playing with this a bit and i’m going to tell you how it played but first i’m going to give you some stats on this so the last review i did was for the pro 130 and this is the ultimate both and dunlop’s both dunlop models and both in their traditional head shapes and you can see the difference is the ultimate has a bigger frame and also a more dense stringing pattern this is a 16 by 19 stringing pattern and they have dunlop silk strings in this from the factory it is a 500 centimeter squared head as compared to this one which is 470. so just a little bigger this is 132 gram racket on my scale all in with strings grip and everything included it was 157.3 grams the weight of this was on the balance beam it was 36 and a half centimeters so kind of a moderate um evenly balanced feel and on my percentage scale method 53 of that weights in the head so it feels nicely balanced moderately balanced not too not too head heavy not too light

So the cosmetics on this as usual are kind of this is kind of their the yellow racket uh usually and they’ve got the kind of the srixon update on this they i believe were purchased by srixon a japanese company um last year maybe anyway all them maybe it’s been longer than that but they’ve been upgrading all their models this one is wrapped by diego elias and it’s got his signature on here and also tiny signature down there oh and uh also where is she millie tomlinson she plays with it too i think diego’s model is pretty heavily customized is my guess but um but but he uses this frame size so for me the question is how did this play and how does it compare to the 130 which i just used

I really enjoyed it if you see the 130 review i also enjoyed this one i actually gave us give a slight preference to the ultimate sometimes when you play with the smaller head size like this one you feel a little bit more precision because the string beds a little smaller a little bit less vibration and you can also kind of get it in the corners a little more easily and kind of dig balls out the ultimate the benefit of the larger head size is if you hit a ball that’s a little bit off center just the bigger string bed for me just get it’s a little bit more forgiving basically and the question is what’s the trade-off between getting that having that extra forgiveness and a little bit more power on the bigger one versus kind of the maneuverability and i really felt like i didn’t lose anything in terms of accuracy and maneuverability

When i was playing with the ultimate i did feel like when i had an off-center hit if i was rushed or if i just had an off-center hit uh i just i felt like i got a little bit more more power off of this thing in those instances also i tend to like the slightly more dense stream bed of this one compared to the 130. so these are both great rackets and I liked playing with them both I just had a slight preference for the ultimate so I am now going to show you some gameplay footage if you want to see this baby in action hopefully that was helpful and let me know any questions in the comments and if you want to see more reviews make sure to hit like and hit subscribe to the squash source channel all right thanks a lot all right so this is the fifth game of a match between me and Richard and we’re gonna see how the ultimate does… *plays a couple clips*

I did like this racquet I felt like I was playing very well with it it’s nice to see in there I felt like I was moving pretty well too and that’s something I’ve been struggling to build back up coming back from the pandemic but um anyway hopefully that was helpful
