Product Notes

This is part of the Tecnifibre Dynergy AP range of squash rackets, which is being released around April 2016. These rackets are a new frame shape for Tecnifibre featuring a “power ring” setup reminiscent of some Prince squash rackets.

This is the lightest of the three rackets in the new Tecnifibre range:

  • Tecnifibre Dynergy AP 125 (this one)
  • Tecnifibre Dynergy AP 130
  • Tecnifibre Dynergy AP 135

I’ve just bought this (125ap) racquet. Overal it is good racquet and I am glad that I have it. But there are some drawbacks: Weight with stock raquet is 155grams, I will scale it without strings later on. Stock string tension is 34,5 lbs. This way more than I am use to so I will restring it soon. But racquet printing says – string tension from 20-30lbs . Why they overtension it on stock strings ???

what racket is the cannonball using at Channel Vas?

its definitely not the Dynergy, it kinda looks like the carboflex 135S, but painted yellow to look like the old carboflex 125. I think it’s one of the new S models as you can see some of the new features.

    very confusing altogether!

      Hi Bernard.
I think it is the old Carboflex 125, you can see good and clear pictures on the channel vas website of his racket ( http://www.squashsite.com ). The strange thing is that in qualifying it is very clearly the black/yellow Carboflex 125, it even reads 125 in yellow on the shaft and on the frame it says 305+. On the newer 125 it reads DNAMX. In the match against Dessouky it gets trickier since it almost looks like he has some black tape protecting the grommets and strings and a white crash tape on top. On the old 125 the strings protrude slightly at the side of the frame, so it makes a bit of sense. He also might have a 125s grommet strip and removed the bumper or just shaved the bumper off, which explains the crash tape.

I have been playing with the Dynergy AP125 for quite a while now.

I have also the 125 Carboflex (old yellow version) and Powerbite 750 by prince.

For me the Dynergy AP125 is the most powerful, but a bit head heavy for my taste. It feels way heavier than the 125 and the Prince.

Overall I feel that the Carboflex 125 is a more monoeuvrable racquet for my style of playing.

It seems that Rodriguez gave up playing the AP125.

I have definitely found my Dynergy AP 125 heavier than the Carboflex 125S that I used to play with. I do appreciate the extra power and stiffer frame the Dynergy provides over the Carboflex. I have begun to choke my grip up higher on the racquet grip (ie shortening the racquet) whenever I need a bit more manoeuvrability and then making it more “neutral” for drives etc. I have to say that while the Carboflex 125S is a phenomenal racquet, it feels “tinny” and “rattly” compared to the Dynergy now. Both great racquets though!

You are absolutely right about the comparasion between both raquets but so differents in term of feel.

With the AP125 length seems to be easier to get but in term of deception the Carbonex 125 seems to be the way to go.

It happened in the past where during a game I was switching the raquet to change to way I was playing. In some occasions it worked.

      Hi
I had my AP 125 restrung with Ashaway Ultranick 1.15
It’s lighter on the head and easier to move around in a rally. Power is terrific.
The basic shape of the head makes the racket just a bit difficult but in terms of power and the ability to hit the ball out of corners as well as lobbing the ball to the back : it’s awesome.

But yes, due to its head shape it has an issue with its balance, gets a bit weird during rallies also compounded by its multiple power zones. Guess that’s the reason Rodrigous appears to have switched back to the old 125S.

Hopefully won’t be a recurring issue

Rodriguez definitely not using the Ap125 anymore, maybe he prefers the carboflex, carboflex frame has been around for 15 years plus, so it’s a sure winner.

Roderiguez isn’t using this racket anymore. He is using a racket that is unbranded, but looks like a carboflex model. It is painted black, but no branding or design.

I have a couple of these which I have been playing with for around a month now. I changed from the Carboflex 125S, which while an excellent racket, does not suit me as much as the Dynergy 125. The Dynergy 125 is on paper the same weight as the Carboflex, but in reality weigh around 8 to 10 grams heavier with stock strings and grip. Although a little less maneuverable than the Carboflex, it has a bit more power and a more solid and less “vibey” feel to it when you strike the ball. My only complaint would be the Dnamx strings which broke on the 4th game with each racket. Not sure whether this is due to the racket string pattern or the string itself. I have restrung both with Tecnifibre 305 16 (130) to hopefully improve the durability. Fingers crossed!

The same thing happened to me on my 3rd or 4th game, the racket was less than 4 weeks old. The string snapped at the top and I am sure it is linked to the string pattern being very open/flared so more pressure on less string. The bumper on the head also split/cracked.

I contacted Direct Sports (not Sports Direct!) in the UK where I purchased the racket and they offered a free professional re-string. I opted for the Ashaway PowerNick 18 at 27lbs (a Nick Matthew favourite). Have been cheeky and asked for a grip upgrade to Karakal PU Air, if you don’t ask you don’t get.

It is a lovely racket and great power but time will tell if this is a trend…

My new Ashaway strings are great and holding up HOWEVER the grommet went again within 2 games. Moaned to Technifibre direct and have to say their CS was very swift. Turns out the manufacturer in China had a moulding issue with this batch. They will be using my feedback and pictures to make improvememts to design via R&D and have put me on the list to test any new racquets which is a nice sweetener. They also sent me a Technifibre mug bless’um.

The same thing has happened with me twice now. I have been playing with this racket since June 2016 (I switched from Carboflex 125S). The stock strings held up well for a few months (I play 2-3 days per week) and snapped due to normal wear and tear, after the strings frayed in the middle of the string bed. I restrung my racket with Tecnifibre 305 17 gauge at 27 lbs but those strings broke at the top after a month or so. I restrung my racket with Head Evolution Pro (orange ones) 17 gauge at 27 lbs but those broke too at the top! And this time, the grommets went too! I wonder what could be the problem. It seems, reading others’ experience here, there is a problem with this particular racket. Now, I’ve ordered Ashaway SuperNick 18 gauge, let’s see what happens. And I’d appreciate if Michael H, or someone else, could suggest string tension for this particular combination – Tecnifibre Dynergy 125 AP and Ashaway SuperNick 18. Many thanks.

Have been playing with the dynergy 125 for about 3 weeks now and it is sweet! Loads of power (!!) with minimal effort yet the control is not sacrificed.

The only thing that needs getting used to is the chunky and thick frame — it weighs 160g (original strings and grip), and so it is not easy to dig the ball out of deep corners so what I do is just give it a nice wallop and it will somehow end up at the front wall.

The Dnamx strings feel soft and the original factory tension seems to be on the low side, maybe to compensate for the stiff frame. Will be looking to change the strings soon.

If you can get past the chunky frame, the dynergy 125 has it all — feel, touch and power. Give it a try!

I have been using this racket for about 3 weeks, did not like the feel ( too soft ) nor the response of the Dnamx string.
Replaced the string with Head Evolution Pro 1.21mm, strung at 25 lbs. Awesome power, control and feel. Try and you’ll love it.
