   Because I wanted something a bit lighter than the 130 x speed but with more forgiveness than the 125. I was wavering between the 120 and 130 based on the PDH sports review. It’s bizay that the 3 tecnifibre rackets I have had (x speed 125 and 130 and Dynergy 120) have all come out the same weight on my kitchen scales. I know that there is +- 5 g in the tolerance but I have 2 130 x speeds that weight the same as the 120 Dynergy.

      Correction on this. 130 X speed with 305 1.1mm is 152g (as is the Dynergy APX 120 with the factory string). My spare 130 X speed with DNAMX 1.2mm is 156g, so the thinner string gauge has removed 4-5g and made it play more like a 125 speed. I wonder if I drop the 120 APX down to a thinner gauge this will feel lighter? Overall as the APX beds in I am liking it. Starting to feel a little more manouvreable and very good on drives. Nice touch for a chunkier (although not too chunky) frame. Only thing I notice is its harder to get under tight drops to lob than with the X speed. However, it does seem like I am getting more power and accuracy with the Dynergy which as nothing else has changed I would have to put down to the racket. How much that is shiny new racket syndrome time will tell but so far feels like a good switch.

   Just bought one of these. Was using carboflex x speed 130 before that. On the scales, both weight the same (152g), which is also the weight of an x speed 125 I owned previously. Tecnifibre needs to sort out its tolerances! That said, I really liked the racket. It obviously has a chunkier feel than the carboflex, but has effortless power and good touch (didnt feel the inconsistency Paul from PDH mentioned). It has a different feel to the carboflex but I felt i had more accuracy, hittin some crosscourt nicks very well which is a weakness for me with the carboflex

      Thanks Richard. Evaluating the same switch. While I love the balance and power of 130 x speed, looking for something slightly more manoeuvrable and forgiving (especially on volleys). Any specific feedback on these two ?

         I would say it’s possibly less manoeuvrable because of the chunky feel and I’m slightly disappointed that it does not feel (or weigh) lighter, especially given the 10g lighter frame weight. I did have 305 1.1 gauge in the x speed and these are strung with 1.24 x one biphase but 10 g difference? I have only played one 40 minute session so far so have a hunch it’s just a different feel of a chunkier frame and I will get used to it. Forgiveness is definitely good and power was easy to generate, I was overhitting to start which is an indication I have to work harder with the x speed. Also found touch fine. Biggest and most pleasant surprise was the x one bi. Was worried would feel bad going from 305 1.1 to the 1.24 and I would have to restring but it felt really nice! I will update more as I continue to play, interested as to whether that chunky feel goes away.

            Thanks Richard. So it’s good on one but inconstant on the other…..may be will stick with x-speed 130 for now, which is definitely one of the best Technifibre I have found so far

            Was considering exactlybthe same switch! Wondering why you decided on the apx 120 instead of the 130?

               Are you guys still using the 120, or moved on to something else? I just picked one up off a mate of mine, and it has the factory grip on it, strung in Ashaway Multi Nick 1.15mm (not sure of the tension, as this does factor in all in weight) and on my kitchen scale last night it was a dead even 150g. Which is pretty surprising to me, because I come from using a x-speed 125 as well for the past 9 months or so, and I’ve gotten it down to 149g by replacing the factory Tecnifibre squash dry grip with a different grip stretched out really thin, and stringing it in any 1.1 – 1.15mm string (I’ve had 305, 305+, DYNAMX, and Ultra Nick in it). So if I replace this factory tacky grip on the APX 120 (it feels a bit heavy) I can probably get this under 150g hopefully.
               My thoughts on the frame itself though, I’m really liking what I’ve seen and felt so far coming from the x-speed 125, it’s definitely more forgiving, bigger sweet spot it feels like, and the power is almost effortless it feels. I do agree on the slightly “chunky” like feel, and I attribute this to the nature of the frame, and the Jumbo Shaft construction, but hopefully with a thinner grip, that will reduce some of that 🙂
