The Asics Gel Blade 6 started to appear in June 2017. This indoor court shoe turned out to be popular with squash players, and was used by many professional players, as you can see in some of the photos below. I understand that it’s also popular for badminton and handball.
Update: a newer version, the Asics Gel Blade 7, was spotted in May of 2019.
The Asics Gel Blade 6 replaced the Asics Gel Blade 5, which had been a big hit with squash players. The newer Gel Blade 6 appears to have some design changes compared to the prior model: it has clean lines but based on the photos it appears to have less reinforcement around pretty much the whole shoe.

Why are the Gel Blade 6 difficult to get? It’s strange as i’ve never had problems getting the colour i want from their catalogue in my size with before. I contacted Asics directly and they appear totally silent on the issue. Anyone with any insight?

What’s the verdict on these versus the Fastball? differences, pros and cons?
Rob says

I own these and forget I’m wearing them!
Very comfortable for my feet and seem very well made for how light they are.
I took up squash to shift some weight as I currently weigh 16 stone and these shoes have taken my load and supported me very well up till now.
They also look very eye catching in the blue and pink too which is a nice bonus!
Never worn the Fastball but I would assume like all Asics they are just as awesome!
Hope this helps!

Are these now discontinued? Finding it really hard to get hold of a pair of Gel Blade 6s to replace my old Gel Blade 5s for badminton. Anyone know where I can hold of these in Canada?
Pierre says
()
I think they’re too new to be discontinued but I haven’t seen them in Canada yet though
Julian says

Thanks Pierre. Even in the markets where they are available (US, UK, France) they appear to have only limited sizes available. I might just have to look for a similar Asics, Yonex or Mizuno shoe.

Try contacting ATRSports (https://atrsports.com/contact-us/), I believe that the owner will special order Asics models for you as long as they are available from Asics Canada.

The sizing of the Gel Blade 6 is different from my old Gel Blades as well as the numerous generations of Kayanos I’ve worn: beware they are a bit large in your normal size! Have sent mine back as it wasn’t a pleasure using them and have replaced with the previous Gel Blade generation.

Hello Angel,
A Gel Blade 6 model for women exists, with Orchid/Plum/Red color, available in Europe, in France for example:

Thanks, added that one

Tried a pair on in store. They’ve anchored the tongue to the sole of the shoe, but it doesn’t have much give (the material used isn’t very elastic), and was a little uncomfortable since I have high arches. Too bad because I loved my Gel Blade 5’s.
